Pollution particularly in the last six years has caused a disastrous effect on our river. The poultry industry that has been allowed to develop in Powys is a disaster. The manurer which is highly toxic with sulphates is running into the streams that feed the Wye system.

If not but even more of a disaster collected its collected and sent to Herefordshire and spread on land to grow crops mainly potatoes.

The run-off from agriculture is now a complete disaster for the Wye. You need to be absolutely aware that ecosystem below Hereford is dying. The base of the system is a weed, known as Crow’s-foot, it’s actually called ranunculus. 95 % yes that correct 95% of this weed has died. This weed is vital to the ecosystem its cover for all the invertebrates’ small fish et cetera that is vital to the food chain. For the last two years at Redbrook the swans have not nested this has never happened in history, simply because there’s not enough food. Minnows and small fish will not survive without this weed soon the kingfishers will die of starvation!

Wake up stop this pollution, there are 21 more planning applications for industrial size chicken sheds in Powys. Are you going to be the politicians that didn’t enforce law and let the Wye Die.

Your grandchildren will never forgive you!
